Construction Period: October 2020 – May 2021

Total Value: $3,600,000 + GST

Fremantle Ports leased A Shed to Gage Roads Brewing. Prior to the hand over of the Shed, Advanteering were engaged by Fremantle Ports to complete works to ensure the shed was stable and had a 50 year design life. These works included the installation of a new sheet pile wall, repairs to the reinforced concrete deck (spanning over the water) and repairs to the timber posts and footings.

The project included:

  • Install a new sheet pile wall (SPW) behind an existing SPW and fill the gap with concrete.
  • Create a new footing for the each shed column by installing 2 screw piles and connecting to the column via a concrete footing.
  • Replace sections of suspended slab with a new suspended slab – the challenge being the suspended slab being replaced had the walls of the shed above.
  • The Giken is the rare sheet piling machine that pushes the sheet piles into the ground using hydraulic force rather than vibration. This was ideal due to the sensitive A Shed which is over 100 years old and is heritage listed.

The project was effectively managed without environmental incident. All of the works were completed on time and on budget.
